Combermere Bridge road to remain closed during night hours

Shimla, September 7: The road near Combermere Bridge (Lift) will remain closed from 11 pm to 5 am on the nights of September 7 and 8 to facilitate the launching and installation of bridge girders by the Public Works Department.

District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap issued orders for closure of the road on MDR-66 near RD 03/965, Combermere Bridge. During the closure, traffic will be diverted through Victory Tunnel and Talland as per directions of the Traffic Police.

The executing agency has been directed to ensure proper barricading, reflective warning signs, flashers, cones, lighting and deployment of adequate traffic and security personnel. Arrangements will also be made for uninterrupted movement of emergency vehicles.

Warning and diversion signs will be installed at MLA Crossing, Victory Tunnel, Talland and Ravenswood to alert motorists in advance. The administration has urged commuters to use alternative routes during the specified hours and follow traffic police instructions.
