UHF Nauni Honours Teachers for Excellence in Teaching on Teachers’ Day

Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, celebrated Teachers’ Day on Saturday with a special programme organised at the Dr LS Negi Auditorium. The occasion honoured the invaluable contribution of teachers and recognised excellence in teaching.

Prof. HS Baweja, Vice Chancellor, addressed the gathering and highlighted the vital role of teachers in shaping future generations and strengthening the academic, research and overall learning environment of the university. Prof. Baweja emphasised that the role of a teacher extends beyond the classroom and includes parents and all those who guide and mentor students at different stages of their lives. He said that one of the greatest sources of pride for a teacher is to see their students succeed in life. He urged students to always remember and honour the mentors who stood by them through their ups and downs and contributed to their growth and success.

Highlighting the changing needs and pressures faced by students, Prof. Baweja called upon the teaching fraternity to continuously evolve their skills, teaching approaches and engagement with students. He stressed the need for teachers to understand the aspirations and challenges of the younger generation and help students recognise their potential, build confidence and achieve greater heights in their academic and professional lives.

Earlier, Dr SK Bhardwaj, Dean Students’ Welfare, welcomed the teachers, staff and students and highlighted the significance of Teachers’ Day and the important role played by teachers in shaping the academic and personal lives of students. The contribution and legacy of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and renowned educationist, were also remembered on the occasion. A vibrant cultural programme was presented by university students as part of the celebrations. The performances showcased the creativity and talent of the students and added to the festive spirit of the occasion.

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of the Best Teacher Awards to faculty members in recognition of their dedication, commitment and excellence in teaching. The awards acknowledged the significant contributions made by teachers towards the academic development and overall growth of students.

In the Professor category, Dr BS Dilta and Dr Ramesh Bhardwaj were conferred the Best Teacher Awards. In the Associate Professor category, the awards were presented to Dr Monica Sharma and Dr Piyush Mehta, while Dr Pankaj and Dr Rohit Sharma received the awards in the Assistant Professor category.
