Kangra Airport Expansion to Balance Development with Interests of Affected Families: Kewal Singh Pathania

Transparent University Recruitment to Ensure Equal Opportunities for Youth

Dharamshala, September 4: Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania said the state government’s move towards test-based recruitment of teachers in all universities will make the selection process more transparent and provide equal opportunities to deserving youth.

Speaking to mediapersons at Kangra Airport, Pathania said test-based recruitment for posts such as lecturers and assistant professors would enable talented candidates to prove their merit through a transparent process.

On the Kangra Airport expansion, he said the government was accelerating the project, with around ₹4,000 crore being spent on its development. The expansion is expected to boost tourism, trade, employment and economic activity across the state by improving air connectivity.

Pathania, however, stressed that the interests of families affected by the expansion remain a top priority. He said eligible affected and displaced families are being provided compensation along with rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) benefits as per rules. Those still awaiting eligible R&R benefits will also be provided the same in accordance with the prescribed norms.

He said the government is committed to balancing development with public interest and ensuring that affected families receive all their rightful benefits in a timely manner. The airport expansion, he added, will create new opportunities for employment and self-employment and serve as an important milestone in the region’s development.
