Legal Awareness Programme on “Empowered Youth, Stronger India” Held at RKMV

Shimla, August 31, 2026: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Shimla, organised a legal awareness programme at Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla, on August 31 under the JAGRITI Scheme, 2025, on the theme “Empowered Youth, Stronger India.”

Around 300 students participated in the programme.

The students were provided important information on welfare schemes for girls and women, the NALSA Student Awareness Resource on Ragging, 2026, free legal aid and legal services, substance abuse, AI-based fraud and deepfakes, cyber impersonation, online financial fraud, digital privacy and responsible use of social media.

The programme was addressed by representatives from the Women and Child Development Department, Shimla, including Shri Krishna, DMC, and Advocate Shailja Sood, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, LADCS Office, Shimla. Constable Kamlesh (No. 404) and Constable Lalit Tanwar (No. 344) from the Cyber Crime Police Station, Kasumpti, Shimla, also interacted with the students.

The resource persons explained practical ways to protect against cybercrime and demonstrated various forms of cyber fraud through practical examples and real-life cases. Students were advised to remain alert while using digital platforms and to protect their personal and financial information.

They were also encouraged to become responsible digital citizens and to approach the appropriate legal services authorities whenever they face a legal or cyber-related problem.

The programme aimed to create awareness among young people about their legal rights and duties, digital safety and available legal assistance, while encouraging them to become empowered, responsible and informed citizens.
