Jairam Thakur Questions Sukhu Govt Over Unspent Health Funds

Shimla, August 29: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur alleged that people in Himachal Pradesh are suffering due to shortages of medicines and healthcare facilities, while the Sukhu government has failed to fully utilize funds provided by the Centre under the free medicines scheme.

Citing Assembly data, Thakur said ₹211.29 crore was approved over the past three years, but only ₹165.60 crore was spent, leaving ₹45.69 crore unutilized. He questioned why funds were not being used despite shortages of essential medicines and medical supplies in hospitals.

Thakur accused the state government of blaming the Centre while failing to address administrative shortcomings, and demanded accountability for the unspent funds and medicine shortages.
