Sudhir Sharma Questions Timing of Vigilance Summons During Assembly Session

Shimla, August 21, 2026: Former Himachal Pradesh minister and BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma appeared before the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Shimla on Friday in connection with an ongoing investigation, accompanied by several senior BJP legislators.

Speaking to the media after reaching the Vigilance headquarters, Sharma said he respected the law and would continue to cooperate with the investigation. He maintained that the information and documents sought by the investigating agency had been provided and that he had nothing to hide.

However, Sharma questioned the timing and procedure of the summons, particularly as the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is currently in session. He alleged that summoning an Opposition MLA during Assembly proceedings raised concerns about attempts to put pressure on the Opposition.

He also questioned why he had been called to the Vigilance headquarters in Shimla when, according to him, the case and relevant records were based in Dharamshala. Sharma said investigative agencies must follow established procedures and protocols.

Sharma further raised questions over the disclosure of information about the summons to the media, claiming that media reports appeared before he formally received the notice. He also referred to the procedure for informing the Legislative Assembly when action is initiated against a sitting MLA.

Despite his concerns, Sharma reiterated that he would cooperate with the investigation and provide documents and factual responses to all legitimate queries.

He accused the Congress government of using the Vigilance proceedings to divert attention from issues being raised by the Opposition during the Assembly session, including unemployment, the state’s financial situation, development and law and order.

“The facts will ultimately come before the people of Himachal Pradesh,” Sharma said, asserting that BJP legislators would continue to raise public issues both inside and outside the Assembly.

Senior BJP leaders including **Vipin Singh Parmar, Satpal Singh Satti, Balbir Verma, Dr Janak Raj, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Rakesh Jamwal and Trilok Jamwal** accompanied Sharma to the Vigilance headquarters. Other BJP MLAs, including **Lokender Kumar, Deep Raj, Ashish Sharma and Puran Chand Thakur**, also reached the office in support of him.
