Shimla DC Directs Departments to Prioritise Repair Proposals for Disaster-Affected Infrastructure
Shimla, August 19, 2026:Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has directed officials to promptly submit proposals for the repair of infrastructure damaged during the monsoon under SDRF and NDRF provisions.
Chairing a review meeting on Wednesday, Kashyap instructed SDMs and departmental officers to prioritise damaged roads, schools, drinking water schemes and other public assets and submit complete proposals through the respective SDMs.
He said every proposal must include a damage report, detailed estimate and recovery letter to avoid delays in sanctioning funds. The DC noted that although the state government has made budgetary provisions for repairing disaster-affected schemes, an inadequate number of complete proposals are being received from the field.
Officials were also directed to expedite the Letter of Credit (LOC) process for approved works so that implementation can begin within the stipulated timeframe.
The DC reviewed works sanctioned under MPLADS as well and instructed officials to ensure that long-pending projects are started at the earliest. He directed concerned officers to personally monitor such works and complete pending formalities without delay.
Kashyap further ordered that any disaster-related information or report sought by the district administration must be submitted within two days. He said delays in reporting can hamper relief and repair operations and cause inconvenience to the public.
He also directed officials to seek feedback from local elected representatives while prioritising repair and restoration works, ensuring that projects addressing genuine local needs receive priority for funding.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sharma, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Gyan Sagar Negi, District Planning Officer Dr. Nivedita Negi, District Revenue Officer Shivani Bhardwaj, and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting through video conferencing.
