Special and National Lok Adalats to Be Held in Shimla

Shimla: A State-level Special Lok Adalat and a National Lok Adalat will be organised in the courts of Shimla district to facilitate the speedy and amicable settlement of cases.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Shimla, Umesh Verma, said a Special Lok Adalat will be held on August 22, 2026, for the settlement of cheque-bounce cases under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

A National Lok Adalat will subsequently be organised on September 12, 2026, where eligible pre-litigation matters and pending court cases will be taken up for settlement through mutual consent.

Umesh Verma appealed to eligible litigants to make use of the Lok Adalat mechanism to resolve their disputes amicably and save time and expense. He said Lok Adalats provide a simple, accessible and effective means of dispute resolution with minimal formalities.
