Public Gatherings Banned at 10 Identified Locations in Shimla Till September 30

Shimla, Aug 2 : District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap has issued an order under Section 6 of the Punjab Security of State Act, 1953, prohibiting public meetings, protests, rallies, processions, slogan-shouting, band performances, and the carrying of objects that could be used as weapons at 10 identified locations across Shimla city.
The restricted areas include key stretches from Chhota Shimla to The Ridge and Kennedy House, Rendezvous Restaurant to Rivoli Cinema, Scandal Point to Kali Bari Temple, parts of Chhota Shimla, Cart Road, Chaura Maidan, AG Office, and areas around the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
The order has been issued to maintain public order and will remain in force until September 30, 2026. It does not apply to police, paramilitary, or armed forces personnel while performing official duties.
The administration has clarified that prior permission from the competent authority will be mandatory for organizing any event at the notified locations. Violations of the order will attract legal action under the applicable provisions.
