Commends State Election Commission for conducting free, fair and transparent elections
Governor Kavinder Gupta today received the report on the General Elections to Local Bodies in Himachal Pradesh–2026 from State Election Commissioner, Anil Khachi at Lok Bhavan.
The report covers the general elections to the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies held in May, 2026 and presents a comprehensive account of the planning, preparation and conduct of the electoral process. It also highlights the administrative measures, logistical arrangements, legal challenges and key milestones associated with the successful completion of the elections.
Complimenting the State Election Commission for conducting the elections in a free, fair, peaceful and transparent manner, the Governor appreciated the publication of a detailed report, describing it as a valuable reference document for policymakers, researchers, administrators and citizens interested in grassroots democratic institutions.
The Governor observed that strong, responsive and accountable institutions are the foundation of a vibrant democracy. He said the successful conduct of the elections reflected the commitment of the people of Himachal Pradesh, political stakeholders and election officials towards strengthening democratic values at the grassroots level. He extended his best wishes to all the newly elected representatives and expressed confidence that they would discharge their responsibilities with dedication, integrity and commitment to inclusive development and public welfare.
