Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has urged the state government to focus on effectively implementing the Viksit Bharat Rozgar Evam Aajeevika Mission Gramin (VBG Ramji) instead of spreading what he described as misinformation about the scheme.
In a statement issued from Mandi, Thakur alleged that the government’s claims regarding reduced wages, lower administrative charges and cuts in central assistance under the scheme had been disproved. He said the Centre had increased the performance grant from 10 percent to 20 percent and called on the state to improve implementation in order to secure greater incentives.
He further claimed that Himachal Pradesh had been sanctioned ₹1,203 crore for the first nine months under the scheme, around ₹300 crore more than the previous year. Thakur also highlighted provisions for climate resilience, including shelters, flood control structures, rehabilitation works and forest fire management, urging the government to utilise these measures for disaster preparedness instead of engaging in political criticism.
