MP Suresh Kashyap Reviews Development Projects in Shimla District at DISHA Meeting

Shimla, June 22: A meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) was held in Shimla under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap to review the progress of key centrally sponsored schemes and development projects across the district.

Kashyap directed departments to expedite long-pending projects and ensure timely completion of development works. He expressed satisfaction over the implementation of directions issued during previous meetings and stressed that benefits of central government schemes should reach beneficiaries within stipulated timelines.

The committee reviewed the progress of major programmes including the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Jal Jeevan Mission, AMRUT, MPLADS, 15th Finance Commission projects, Smart City Mission, MGNREGA, PMAY, NRLM, Ayushman Bharat and various agriculture, health, power and rural development schemes.

Under PMGSY, a total of 373 road projects have been sanctioned across Shimla, Rohru and Rampur circles, with the majority already completed or under execution. The meeting also reviewed works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), under which over ₹1,447 crore has been approved for power infrastructure upgrades, loss reduction measures and smart metering in the district.

In the agriculture sector, thousands of farmers have benefited from schemes related to soil health, sustainable agriculture, pulse production and irrigation. The animal husbandry department reported more than 60,000 beneficiaries under the nationwide artificial insemination programme.

Health officials informed the committee that over 98 percent of the National Health Mission budget has been utilized and more than 9,400 beneficiaries received treatment under Ayushman Bharat during the previous financial year. Shimla district has also achieved an institutional delivery rate of over 99 percent and recorded strong performance under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.

The meeting was also informed that 3,322 micro and small industries are operating in the district, generating employment for over 10,700 people. Under PMEGP, subsidies worth ₹1.47 crore were provided to 60 beneficiaries last year.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap welcomed the MP and briefed him on the progress of various schemes, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Sachin Sharma presented the agenda items and assured compliance with the committee’s directions.
