Artists, Cultural Troupes Honoured for Enriching Shimla Summer Festival 2026

Shimla, June 12: The International Shimla Summer Festival 2026 concluded its cultural celebrations on a high note with a special felicitation ceremony honouring artists, performers and cultural troupes who enthralled audiences throughout the five-day event.

Organised at the Bachat Bhawan Auditorium, the gratitude ceremony was hosted by the International Shimla Summer Festival Organising Committee to recognize the contribution of artists who performed from June 8 to 12 and helped make the festival a vibrant celebration of culture, music and tradition.

Deputy Commissioner Shimla and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Anupam Kashyap, presented appreciation certificates and mementoes to artists representing cultural groups from Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir, who participated through the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala. Local cultural groups, including Mahasu Yuvak Sanskritik Mandal Kedhi Kupvi, Jayeshwari Cultural Troupe Theog, Koteshwari Cultural Troupe Theog, Dharohar Dance Group and various entertainment teams, were also honoured.

Speaking on the occasion, Kashyap said the artists played a pivotal role in transforming the Summer Festival into a memorable cultural extravaganza. Their performances not only entertained residents but also captivated tourists visiting Shimla during the festival.

In a separate ceremony, members of the Himachal Pradesh Police Brass Band, Bharari, and the Himachal Home Guards Band, Second Battalion, were also felicitated for their outstanding musical performances. Kashyap praised the personnel for showcasing artistic excellence alongside their commitment to public service.

The Deputy Commissioner also honoured the members of the Eklavya Mallakhamb Team from Delhi for their inspiring demonstrations during the festival. Highlighting the importance of sports in keeping youth away from substance abuse, he said disciplines such as Mallakhamb contribute significantly to both physical fitness and mental development.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana and other officials were present at the ceremonies.
