LR B.Ed. Department Marks World Environment Day with Awareness Activities

Solan, June 5: The LR B.Ed. Department observed World Environment Day with a series of awareness programmes aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable living among students. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from trainee teachers and NSS volunteers.
The programme commenced with a special prayer assembly, where students and faculty members pledged to protect and preserve the environment. Principal Dr. Nisha, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, attended the event.
As part of the celebrations, NSS volunteers launched the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign, encouraging students, teachers and community members to plant saplings in honour of their mothers while spreading the message of environmental protection.
Students also presented a street play highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and cleanliness. Several competitions, including poster making, speech contest and “Best Out of Waste,” were organised to encourage creativity and environmental awareness.
In the poster-making competition, Palak’s team secured first position, followed by Mahak Chauhan’s team in second place and Tanzeen’s team in third. Chomo’s team emerged victorious in the “Best Out of Waste” competition. In the speech contest, Kritika Kashyap won first place, while Ananya and Reena jointly secured second position.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Nisha emphasized that the environment is not only the foundation of human life but also a precious legacy for future generations. She urged everyone to plant trees and reduce plastic use, stating that a clean environment is the cornerstone of a healthy society and a strong nation.
