Himachal Eco Warriors Launch 75,000-Sapling Plantation Mission on World Environment Day

Shimla, 02 June 2026: In the run-up to World Environment Day, the Himachal Eco Warriors of 133 Eco Task Force (ETF) launched an ambitious plantation campaign with a target of planting 75,000 saplings across the region. The initiative commenced with a plantation drive at Chamiyana, organized in collaboration with the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN) and the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department.

The drive focused on planting indigenous tree species to strengthen local biodiversity and promote environmental sustainability. Simultaneously, awareness programmes were conducted to sensitize local communities about the importance of forest conservation and ecological restoration.
The event was inaugurated by Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel) SJVN Ltd., who planted a walnut sapling, in the presence of Pankaj Porwaal, ITES, Chief Vigilance Officer, SJVN. Personnel from 133 Eco Task Force, SJVN Ltd, and the Forest Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh, actively participated in the programme, reaffirming their shared commitment towards afforestation and environmental stewardship.
The plantation campaign forms part of the larger “Know Your TA Mela” initiative and will culminate during the event, showcasing the Ecological Task Force units of Territorial Army’s continued efforts towards ecological conservation and sustainable development in the country.
