Shimla: Bringing laurels to Himachal Pradesh on the national stage, PM SHRI Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Nalagarh in Solan district has received the Encouragement Award at the national-level School Challenge-ToFEI 2025 Awards in New Delhi under the Ministry of Education’s Tobacco-Free Educational Institution (ToFEI) initiative.
The achievement reflects the success of efforts by Samagra Shiksha Himachal Pradesh to promote safe, healthy, and positive learning environments in government schools. The award was presented during a national ceremony inaugurated by School Education and Literacy Secretary Sanjay Kumar, where the ‘Nasha Mukt Vidyalaya’ Action Plan and Portal were also launched.
The Nalagarh school transformed its anti-tobacco campaign into a community movement during 2025-26 by installing 100 percent ToFEI signage, declaring the campus a tobacco-free zone, and administering anti-tobacco pledges to over 500 students and teachers. Students also conducted rallies, poster-making competitions, marathons, and street plays to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco.
Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma congratulated the school community for the achievement, while Principal Manoj Kumar credited the success to the collective efforts of students, teachers, and the guidance of Samagra Shiksha.
