Hamirpur, May 25: Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore on Monday said that road accident victims can avail cashless treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme at all government and empanelled hospitals.
Chairing a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee, the Deputy Commissioner stated that accident victims admitted to hospital within 24 hours of the incident are eligible for free treatment for up to seven days. He added that no empanelled hospital can refuse admission to an accident victim.
To ensure effective implementation of the scheme, Gandharva Rathore directed health authorities to organise training workshops for doctors and healthcare staff regarding the online uploading process required for beneficiaries.
He also instructed all hospitals to prominently display posters and information boards related to the scheme and ensure that details of accident victims are uploaded online immediately.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that under the Rahveer Scheme, “Good Samaritan” awards are given to individuals who provide timely help to road accident victims. This year, Vijay Kumar from Hamirpur district has been recommended for the award.
Reviewing road safety data, he said that nine road accidents were reported in the district during April, resulting in one death and injuries to 14 people.
He added that the Public Works Department, National Highway Authority, Transport Department and Police are jointly taking necessary measures to prevent road accidents and improve traffic management in the district. The Deputy Commissioner directed National Highway Authority officials to install separate speed limit signboards for heavy and light vehicles at appropriate locations.
