Paid Holiday Declared in Una for Panchayat Elections 2026

Una, May 21: The district administration has declared paid holidays in various panchayat areas of Una district in view of the Panchayati Raj Institutions General Elections-2026.

Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal informed that paid leave will be observed on May 26, May 28 and May 30, 2026, corresponding to the first, second and third phases of polling respectively, in the concerned panchayat areas where voting will take place.

He said the decision has been taken to ensure maximum voter participation and to facilitate peaceful, fair and smooth conduct of the elections.

According to the orders, all government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions and industrial establishments located in the concerned polling areas will remain closed on the polling days. Shops and commercial establishments covered under the Industrial Disputes Act will also remain closed in the respective panchayat regions.

The Deputy Commissioner further clarified that the paid holiday provisions will also apply to daily wage workers and will be treated as a paid holiday under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

Employees working in different parts of the state who are eligible to vote in the concerned Panchayati Raj institutions may also avail special casual leave to cast their vote. For this, employees will be required to submit a certificate issued by the Presiding Officer confirming that they exercised their franchise.

Jatin Lal appealed to citizens, employees and institutions to actively participate in the democratic process and cooperate in ensuring peaceful elections.
