Baddi, May 20: At a time when industries are increasingly prioritising practical skills over conventional degrees, Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology is strengthening its position as a centre for skill-based and career-oriented education in Himachal Pradesh.

Established in 2000, the university has built a strong reputation for combining academic learning with industry exposure, innovation and hands-on training. Speaking about the university’s growing focus on emerging career opportunities, Vice Chancellor Dr. Jatinder Sharma said modern education must evolve according to changing industry requirements.

He stated that the university is not merely launching courses but creating complete career pathways for students. Among the newly highlighted programmes is the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), which includes four years of academic learning along with a mandatory one-year internship to ensure strong practical exposure in healthcare sciences.

The university has also expanded its healthcare and technology portfolio with programmes such as Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT), PMRIT, and Bachelor of Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (BAOTT). According to Dr. Sharma, these programmes are specifically designed to bridge the gap between classroom education and real industry demands.

Highlighting another major addition, Dr. Sharma announced the launch of B.Sc. Forensic Science, describing it as a future-oriented programme aimed at preparing students for careers in forensic investigation, scientific analysis and research. He noted that the growing demand for forensic experts in government departments, investigative agencies and research institutions has opened significant opportunities in the field.

Speaking on affordability, the Vice Chancellor said the university is committed to ensuring that quality professional education remains accessible for students and families. Most professional programmes, he said, begin at approximately ₹60,000 per year while still offering advanced infrastructure, practical exposure and industry-focused training.

Dr. Sharma added that sectors such as healthcare technology, diagnostics, medical sciences and forensic investigation are witnessing rapid growth across the country. Graduates from these programmes can pursue careers in hospitals, laboratories, research centres, government organisations, private companies and higher education institutions.

On practical exposure, especially for forensic science students, he said the university is working towards providing training opportunities through State Forensic Science Laboratories and government institutions in Chandigarh. Such exposure helps students understand real-world investigation systems and scientific procedures beyond textbooks.

Discussing placements, Dr. Sharma said nearly 90 to 95 percent of students move successfully towards placements, entrepreneurship, internships or higher studies. He emphasised that the university measures success not only through placement numbers but through the long-term career growth and stability of its students.

He further highlighted the university’s multidisciplinary environment where students from diverse academic backgrounds learn and collaborate together, helping them develop communication skills, confidence and broader professional perspectives.

Describing the campus as a complete educational ecosystem, Dr. Sharma said the university offers modern infrastructure, green surroundings, healthcare support, practical training facilities and vibrant student life at an affordable cost.

With its continued focus on industry-oriented education, emerging technologies, healthcare sciences and skill development, Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology is steadily emerging as one of Himachal Pradesh’s leading private universities preparing students for future careers and not just examinations.
