Shimla, May 20: Former MP Pratibha Singh expressed happiness over the impressive performance of the Congress party in the urban local body elections and thanked the people of Himachal Pradesh for their support.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, she said the Congress contests elections on the agenda of development, while the BJP attempts to gain votes by exploiting people’s emotions. She added that Congress believes in taking everyone along, whereas the BJP indulges in politics based on regionalism and religion.
Pratibha Singh said the results of the municipal body elections clearly indicate that public opinion in the state is in favour of the Congress party. She expressed confidence that Congress would also emerge victorious in the elections to the four municipal corporations.
She urged party leaders and workers to remain united and make people aware of what she described as BJP’s misleading campaigns during the upcoming gram panchayat elections. She said strengthening rural governance and ensuring the benefits of welfare schemes reach people at their doorsteps remain the Congress party’s key priorities.
The former MP congratulated party leaders, office-bearers and workers for the electoral success and once again thanked the people of the state for their continued support.
