1,020 Polling Stations to Be Set Up for Panchayati Raj Elections in Chamba

Chamba, May 11: Mukesh Repswal, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Chamba, said that a total of 1,020 polling stations will be established across the district for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Panchayati Raj Institutions Elections-2026.

He informed that 3,813 officers and employees have been deployed for election duties to ensure smooth conduct of the polling process.

According to the District Election Officer, out of the total polling stations, 860 have been identified as normal, 127 as sensitive and 33 as highly sensitive polling stations.

Mukesh Repswal said that 125 polling stations have been established in Salooni development block, including 110 normal and 15 sensitive stations. In Bhattiyat block, 244 polling stations have been set up, of which 238 are normal and six sensitive.

Similarly, Mehla block will have 160 polling stations, including 116 normal, 43 sensitive and one highly sensitive station. Tissa block will have 174 polling stations, comprising 136 normal, 23 sensitive and 15 highly sensitive stations.

In Chamba development block, 178 polling stations have been established, including 162 normal, 14 sensitive and two highly sensitive stations. Bharmour block will have 87 polling stations, of which 49 are normal, 23 sensitive and 15 highly sensitive, while Pangi block will have 52 polling stations, including 49 normal and three sensitive stations.

The District Election Officer also informed that two all-women polling stations will be established under Bhanjraru Gram Panchayat of Tissa development block at Government Primary School Madan and Government Senior Secondary School Tissa.

He further stated that Government Primary School Chasak Bhatori in the tribal Pangi region, situated at an altitude of around 4,500 metres above sea level, is the highest polling station in the district.

Mukesh Repswal said that directions have been issued to concerned officials to ensure all basic facilities, security arrangements and election-related preparations at every polling station.
