Magisterial Probe Ordered into Woman’s Death in Rohru Firing Incident

Shimla: The district administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a woman during a firing incident at a religious event in Kulgaon village of Rohru subdivision.

District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap has directed an investigation under the provisions of BNSS, 2023, to ascertain the sequence of events, determine responsibility, and identify any administrative or procedural lapses.

Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma has been appointed as the inquiry officer and has been asked to submit the report within seven days.

The deceased has been identified as Ritika, a resident of Chirgaon tehsil. The incident has raised concerns over public safety and law and order in the area.

The inquiry will examine the circumstances leading to the firing, verify the cause of death, assess accountability, investigate possible negligence by organisers, and check for violations of the Arms Act, 1959. Authorities have assured strict action against those found responsible.
