60 Teaching Posts to Be Filled in Polytechnics

Apprenticeships & Startup Support Announced: Rajesh Dharmani

Hamirpur, April 7: Himachal Pradesh Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani announced that 60 teaching posts will soon be filled in polytechnic colleges to strengthen technical education in the state.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the 27th State-Level Athletics and Cultural Competition of polytechnic colleges at Badu, where around 670 students from 17 institutions are participating.

Dharmani said the government is working with a student-centric approach to upgrade technical institutions in line with evolving industry needs. He revealed that apprenticeship opportunities will be arranged in Navratna public sector companies and leading corporate firms to provide better exposure to students.

He also highlighted the launch of an Innovation Policy with a dedicated fund of ₹2 crore, offering financial assistance of up to ₹10 lakh to young innovators. Additionally, an online platform for placements and mentorship will be introduced soon to connect students with industry opportunities.

The Minister informed that a Skill Academy will be established, offering courses aligned with current and future job market demands. He encouraged youth to take advantage of government schemes promoting entrepreneurship, self-employment, and startups.

Emphasizing holistic development, Dharmani said sports, NCC, and cultural activities are essential parts of education, and facilities for these will be strengthened in polytechnic institutions.

He also noted that the state government has enhanced support for athletes, including doubling diet money and providing AC train and air travel facilities for those participating in national-level competitions.

Earlier, host college Principal Chandrashekhar welcomed the chief guest and participants. The event featured a march past and cultural performances by students.
