Himachal Rugby Teams Announced After State Trials; Focus on National Games

Shimla, April 5: The Rugby Association of Himachal Pradesh (RAHP) has announced the probable squads for the state’s men’s and women’s rugby teams following successful selection trials held at Paonta Sahib on April 4.
RAHP General Secretary Vishal Sarin said the trials witnessed participation from around 80 individuals, including players, officials, and volunteers—highlighting the growing popularity and professionalism of rugby in the state.
The trials were conducted for the upcoming Senior National Games in Bihar, with 28 women and 30 men competing. The top 15 players in each category were shortlisted, out of which the final 12-member squads will be confirmed after a performance-based training camp.

The trials were conducted under the supervision of a technical panel including Sudhir Kumar, Pankaj Prabhakar, Dharmender Kumar, Navpreet Singh, and Nirmala, ensuring a fair and merit-based selection process.
Sarin expressed confidence in the selected players, stating that the association remains committed to nurturing talent and providing national-level exposure. He added that the athletes are expected to represent Himachal Pradesh with dedication and pride in the upcoming championship.
