1 min read

Shimla, April 2, 2026:

Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur launched a sharp attack on the state government after the Assembly session, alleging administrative breakdown and lack of direction in governance.

Thakur claimed that internal conflicts among officials have exposed the Chief Minister’s “helplessness,” accusing him of remaining silent despite serious allegations within the bureaucracy. He termed the government’s responses “childish and illogical” and alleged that tainted officials are being protected.

Criticizing the budget, he said it lacks vision and development focus, adding that despite increased financial support from the Centre compared to the previous government, the state continues to blame external factors for its failures.

He also raised concerns over welfare schemes, alleging instances where beneficiaries were wrongly declared deceased, leading to stoppage of pensions.

The opposition leader further highlighted law-and-order issues, protests, and governance challenges, calling the current situation “deeply concerning” for the state.
