International conference on AMR-BioGlobal 2026 begins at Shoolini University

The two-day International Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance and Biotechnology for Global Health (AMR-BioGlobal 2026) commenced at Shoolini University, bringing together leading scientists, academicians, policymakers and industry experts from India and abroad to deliberate on emerging challenges and innovative solutions to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Organised by the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Biotechnology, the conference served as a global platform for discussing scientific advancements and collaborative strategies aimed at addressing one of the most pressing public health challenges of the 21st century.
The inaugural session was attended by dignitaries from academia and research organisations. CEO of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Dr Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, and Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Prof Mahavir Singh, attended the event as distinguished guests and addressed the gathering. In their remarks, the speakers emphasised the urgent need for stronger collaboration among researchers, policymakers and industry stakeholders to tackle the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance through innovation, policy support and interdisciplinary research.
The conference also featured Prof Myron Christodoulides from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, as the Special International Guest. Delivering the keynote address, Prof Christodoulides highlighted the global dimensions of antimicrobial resistance and discussed emerging research opportunities in the field. He further stressed the importance of international scientific cooperation, translational research and advanced biotechnology tools in developing effective solutions against resistant pathogens.
During the inaugural session, speakers also underscored the critical role of interdisciplinary science, biotechnology innovations, advanced diagnostics and genomic research in strengthening the global response to antimicrobial resistance. The event witnessed the participation of researchers, healthcare professionals and experts representing premier academic institutions, research organisations and the healthcare sector.
Meanwhile, the first day of the conference featured a series of technical sessions focusing on AMR surveillance, genomics, epidemiology and biotechnology-enabled diagnostics. Leading scientists and clinicians delivered expert lectures highlighting recent developments in antimicrobial research and global surveillance systems.
The first day of the conference concluded with cultural performances and networking activities, which provided participants with an opportunity to interact and strengthen scientific collaborations. The sessions reflected a shared commitment among researchers and experts to address the growing global challenge of antimicrobial resistance through collective efforts and knowledge exchange.
