RAMP Awareness Programme on Smart Manufacturing & Industry 4.0 Held in Paonta Sahib

Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur: An awareness programme on RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance), Smart Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 technologies, and Government e-Marketplace (GeM) was successfully organized at VIP Resort, Y Point, Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh.

The workshop was conducted by the Department of Industries Centre (DIC), Sirmaur (Nahan), with the objective of enhancing productivity, efficiency, competitiveness, and export potential of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The session was chaired by Shri Balamukund, Industry Promotion Officer (IPO), DIC Paonta Sahib, and witnessed participation from local entrepreneurs and industry representatives.

During the programme, subject matter expert Shri Ilaiyaraja Savari Mariadas from Central Electronics Limited (CEL) highlighted the importance of digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), Smart Manufacturing systems, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in modernizing operations, improving quality, and reducing operational costs for MSMEs.

Trainer Shri Ravi Verma conducted an informative session on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, explaining its benefits and guiding participants through the registration process to access government procurement opportunities.

A total of 26 MSMEs participated, representing key manufacturing and processing sectors including electricals, metals, fabrication, packaging, printing, steel, leather, construction materials, beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Around 43 representatives attended the session.

The RAMP initiative, supported by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, focuses on strengthening the MSME ecosystem, promoting technology upgradation, and enhancing global competitiveness. The session also covered various schemes, toolkits, and support mechanisms available under RAMP to facilitate digital transformation and open market access for enterprises.

Addressing the participants, Shri Balamukund emphasized the need for MSMEs to adopt smart technologies to remain future-ready and globally competitive. He encouraged entrepreneurs to actively leverage government support schemes to ensure sustainable growth.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion on practical approaches to implementing Industry 4.0 solutions at the cluster level, along with an extensive question-and-answer session where MSME representatives engaged actively with experts and technology partners.
