Mandi, March 1, 2026: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur attended a free health check-up and consultation camp organized by Setu Social Welfare Trust in Janjaihli, Seraj Assembly constituency. He urged local residents to undergo regular health check-ups, stating that timely diagnosis helps prevent serious illnesses and ensures better treatment outcomes.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccination campaign against cervical cancer as a historic and transformative decision aimed at safeguarding the future of millions of girls. He thanked the Prime Minister for launching free vaccination for girls up to 14 years of age, calling it a milestone in public health and a reflection of the government’s commitment to women’s welfare.

Highlighting the seriousness of cervical cancer in India, he said over one lakh new cases are reported annually and nearly 80,000 women lose their lives each year due to the disease. He urged mothers and families to ensure timely vaccination for their daughters to protect them from this preventable illness.

Dr. Sadhana Thakur was also present at the camp and emphasized the importance of women’s health awareness. Jai Ram Thakur appreciated Setu Social Welfare Trust for organizing medical services in remote and hilly regions, recalling the organization’s assistance during last year’s natural disaster in the Seraj and Thunag areas.
