Sachin Sharma Takes Charge as Additional Deputy Commissioner Shimla

Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sachin Sharma on Thursday assumed charge as the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Shimla. Prior to this, he served as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Amb.
After taking charge, Sharma said his top priority will be to ensure that government welfare schemes reach every eligible beneficiary, so that no deserving person is left out. He also stressed the need for swift disposal of public grievances.
Sharma further informed that special efforts will be made to ensure maximum participation in the Gram Sabhas scheduled on January 21 and 22, being organised under the state’s anti-drug (anti-“chitta”) campaign. He said all panchayats will work in an effective manner to make Shimla district drug-free, in line with the state government’s commitment.
Highlighting the government’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Himachal”, Sharma said multiple initiatives have been launched to strengthen the rural economy. He added that special focus will be given to empowering women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing employment opportunities at their doorstep and promoting innovations to help them connect their products to markets.
The ADC also stated that development works in all panchayats will be reviewed regularly, and a special strategy will be framed to complete long-pending projects at the earliest. He appealed to all officers and field staff to ensure that pending works are completed within the stipulated time.

Sachin Sharma is a 2022-batch IAS officer from Jhajjar district, Haryana. He cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in his first attempt, securing 233rd rank. He completed his schooling up to Class 12 in Gurugram (Sector-14) and later pursued a BTech in Electronics. After working for a few years in the private sector, he decided to prepare for UPSC.
His father Sunil Dutt is a retired inspector from the Haryana Police. Sharma is the youngest among five siblings. His wife Dr Aastha Sharma is serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law at Himachal Pradesh University.
