Bilaspur, Jan 0, 2026: Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur on Thursday accused the Congress of misusing Mahatma Gandhi’s name for political gain while ignoring his principles of Gram Swaraj and poor welfare. Addressing a press conference, he said the Modi government is committed to realising Gandhi’s vision through the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural), also known as VB–G RAM JI.
Thakur said the new scheme provides a legal guarantee of 125 days of employment, ensures transparent, technology-driven implementation, and links rural employment directly with development projects. He alleged that Congress has historically changed the names of employment schemes for political benefit and is now opposing reforms aimed at empowering villages. He added that Himachal Pradesh would gain significantly from the scheme due to the favourable 90:10 Centre–State funding pattern, calling VB–G RAM JI a major step towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
