Solan, December 1
The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, E-YUVA Centre, and iHUB Shoolini organised a Three-Day Workshop and Certification Programme on “Artificial Intelligence in Pharmaceutical Sciences” with support from E-CELL IIT Hyderabad.
The event aimed to equip students with practical and conceptual knowledge of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into various domains of pharmaceutical sciences. The programme was held in two phases: the Certification Programme at Shoolini University, followed by the upcoming Zonal Competition at IIT Hyderabad, where five selected students will represent Shoolini University.
The inaugural ceremony began with an inspiring address by Chancellor Prof. P. K. Khosla, who highlighted the importance of adopting emerging technologies to advance research and academic excellence.
Prof. Ashish Khosla, President Innovation and Marketing,Shoolini University delivered a lecture on “Artificial Intelligence and Health Sciences”, explaining how AI has transformed protein structure prediction, disease diagnostics, and pharmaceutical research.
Dr. Deepak Kumar, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chief Coordinator of E-YUVA Centre & iHUB Shoolini, outlined the objectives of the workshop, noting that the sessions would strengthen students’ skills in AI-driven compound generation, retrosynthesis, image analysis, and other key areas relevant to modern drug discovery.
Across the three days, the workshop offered a rich blend of technical learning, hands-on experience, and professional development and focused on the vast potential of AI in the pharmaceutical value chain, emphasising how AI-driven solutions are enabling faster drug development, improved accuracy, and better patient outcomes. Workshop provided practical exposure, where participants created basic web portals, such as platforms for reporting medicine-related side effects, and worked with real health datasets to understand predictive machine learning models. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of Python-based data analysis and visualisation. A session on Responsible AI offered real-world examples demonstrating how AI systems can sometimes reflect bias.
The three-day programme concluded with the announcement of the five selected students who will compete in the Zonal Championship at IIT Hyderabad. A formal vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Deepak Kumar, who expressed appreciation to IIT Hyderabad for their continued support. The organising committee included Dr. Arun Kumar, Dr. Raveen Chauhan, Dr. Nishtha Singh, Dr. Shikha Mahant, and Dr. Himanshu Gandhi, along with Coordinator Dr. Th.
