Farmers witness live telecast of launch of major agricultural schemes

Nauni, Solan: Over 560 farmers, scientists, and students joined together at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni and its five Krishi Vigyan Kendras , to watch the live telecast of the national launch of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and the Atma Nirbharta on Pulses Mission, along with several other major agricultural initiatives, from Pusa, New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while launching these landmark schemes with a combined outlay of ₹35,440 crore, called upon farmers to enhance production to meet both domestic and global food demands. The PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana aims to transform Indian agriculture by making it more productive, sustainable, and profitable, particularly focusing on 100 underperforming districts struggling with low yields, water scarcity, and limited resources.

At Nauni, the event was organized by the Directorate of Extension Education of the university. More than 260 farmers from Nauni, Shamrod, Kotla Panjola, and Dharampur blocks, along with university scientists and students, witnessed the live telecast of the inaugural ceremony.

Moreover, the programme also featured an interactive session in which university scientists elaborated on the objectives of the newly launched schemes and highlighted the university’s ongoing outreach activities. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor, urged farmers to familiarize themselves with the schemes and explore ways to actively enrol and derive maximum benefits from these schemes.  Farmers also shared their experiences and suggestions during the interaction.

In addition, 306 farmers from across Himachal Pradesh viewed the live telecast at the university’s Krishi Vigyan Kendras located in Chamba, Solan, Shimla, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti (II) districts.
