Visits disaster-affected families and adopted school in Baga Chunogi

Mandi, October 6 — Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur strongly criticized the Himachal Pradesh Government for preventing the construction of a road crucial for retrieving bodies buried under debris in the Pandav Shila–Dhar area, despite High Court directives.

During his visit to the disaster-affected villages of Dharbar Thach and Baga Chunogi under the Seraj Assembly constituency, Thakur met affected families and assured them of full support. He condemned the administration for stopping locals who were rebuilding the road with their own resources, allegedly under the influence of local Congress leaders.

He stated that this act reflected “inhuman and anarchic governance,” adding that people are forced to walk over an hour on foot due to the blocked route, making it impossible to reach those still trapped under debris.

Thakur also visited the Government Senior Secondary School, Baga Chunogi — a school he has adopted — where he interacted with teachers, parents, and students. He encouraged the children to work hard and make their families and the state proud, expressing an emotional connection to his own school days.
