Kullu Dussehra: Grand Festival of Faith, Culture and Unity, says Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri

Kullu, September 27 – Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri chaired a meeting today to review preparations for the world-famous International Kullu Dussehra Festival, scheduled to be held from October 2 to 8. Language and Culture Department Director Reema Kashyap joined the meeting virtually, along with festival committee chairman and MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, Milk Federation chairman Buddhi Singh Thakur, APMC chairman Ram Singh, Deputy Commissioner and Committee Vice Chairperson Torul S. Ravish, SP Dr. Kartikayan Gokulchandran, ADC Ashwani Kumar, and senior officials from various departments.
Agnihotri extended greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh and Kullu, emphasizing that Kullu Dussehra is not just a religious celebration but a confluence of faith, culture, society, and history that showcases Himachal’s identity at the global stage. He lauded the committee’s decision to cut down expenses in view of the recent natural calamity and to invite only Himachali artists and cultural troupes for evening performances.
The Deputy CM assured full government support for smooth organization and stressed strict measures for public safety, law and order. He directed deployment of additional police force, CCTV surveillance at key spots, efficient traffic management, and uninterrupted water and power supply. Special Dussehra buses will also be operated for the convenience of visitors.
MLA and Festival Committee Chairman Sunder Singh Thakur said efforts are being made to reduce festival expenditure and contribute more towards the CM Relief Fund for disaster-affected families. He also highlighted steps for crowd control and vigilance against pickpockets and unauthorized gatherings.
