Shimla to Host Gandhi & Shastri Jayanti Celebrations on October 2

Shimla, Sept 22 – Preparations are underway in Shimla to mark the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2, 2025. Chairing a review meeting today, Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, directed departments to ensure smooth coordination for the events.
The celebrations will begin at 6 AM with a Prabhat Feri from Lal Bahadur Shastri Chowk (Central Telegraph Office) through Lower Bazaar and Sher-e-Punjab Restaurant, culminating at Gandhi’s statue on the Ridge. Various community groups, schools, teachers, Anganwadi workers, and Nehru Yuva Kendra volunteers will participate.
At 9 AM, floral tributes and a bhajan program will be held at the statues of Gandhi Ji and Shastri Ji on the Ridge. A photo exhibition highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Shimla will also be organized at the venue.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrates Jyoti Rana, Pankaj Sharma, SDMs Manjeet Sharma and Oshin Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Devi Chand Thakur, DSP Vijay Raghuvanshi, and other officials.
