Awareness Workshop for Anganwadi Workers on Women-Centric Schemes and Acts in Hamirpur

Hamirpur, September 9, 2025: Under the ongoing 10-day special awareness campaign (September 2–12) of Mission Shakti, the Department of Women and Child Development organized a workshop for Anganwadi workers of Hamirpur ICDS Project on Tuesday. The session focused on schemes related to women’s welfare and empowerment, as well as laws safeguarding women’s rights.

District Child Protection Officer and CDPO, Kuldeep Singh Chauhan, briefed participants on women- and child-related schemes and legislations. He highlighted the role of the District Child Protection Unit under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme, which ensures children’s rights, development, protection, and participation. The unit also provides emergency assistance, non-institutional and institutional care, counseling, and other child-related services.

Protection Officer Rakesh Kumar sensitized workers about the *Domestic Violence Act*, while Mission Shakti District Coordinator Kalpana Thakur explained the *PoSH Act, 2013* (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace), stressing its importance in creating a safe work environment for women and addressing harassment complaints effectively.

The workshop also covered other welfare schemes and protective laws, aiming to strengthen Anganwadi workers’ role as key grassroots functionaries in spreading awareness and ensuring benefits reach women and children.
