Shimla Admin Shifts Families, Inspects Rain-Hit Areas

Shimla, September 4, 2025 – Heavy rains triggered landslides in parts of Shimla, prompting swift action by the district administration. A team led by ADM (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma, Urban SDM Osheen Sharma, and Tehsildar Apoorv inspected affected sites at Ramchandra Chowk and Krishna Nagar.

In Krishna Nagar, five families were shifted to the community hall after cracks appeared in nearby buildings due to the landslide threat. At Ramchandra Chowk, a major landslide brought down large trees onto a government building’s roof. Although no casualties were reported, nearby houses were evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities are clearing debris, cutting down hazardous trees, and covering vulnerable slopes with tarpaulin sheets. Rescue operations are being carried out at a fast pace. Food and basic arrangements have been ensured for the relocated families.
