Shimla Youth Pledge for Eye Donation at Awareness Camp in Kotshila College

On August 28, 2025, an awareness camp was organized at Rajiv Gandhi Government College, Kotshila, Shimla under the National Eye Donation Fortnight Campaign, guided by Dr. Yashpal Ranta, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Shimla.
Dr. Ranta emphasized the importance of eye care in today’s digital age, where most tasks are performed using mobiles and laptops. Dr. Manzil Sharma, Medical Officer, provided detailed information on eye donation and encouraged the youth to pledge for eye donation and spread awareness in society.
All attendees took a pledge for eye donation during the event. The camp saw participation from 170 students, and activities like reel making and slogan writing competitions were held. Winners and participants were awarded by College Principal Dr. Gopal Chauhan and officials from the Health & Family Welfare Department, Shimla.
Dr. Ranta added that various awareness programs are being held across all blocks of the district under the Eye Donation Fortnight.
Additionally, under the AIDS awareness program, the CMO also distributed bin bags to taxi drivers, printed with important HIV/AIDS awareness messages, aiming to educate both drivers and passengers.
