Congress Pushing Families into Ruin with Lottery Decision: Anurag

1 min read

Shimla, August 3:

Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur strongly opposed the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh Government’s decision to reintroduce lottery schemes, accusing them of targeting families and exploiting the financially vulnerable.

Thakur stated, “After pushing Himachal into economic distress, this visionless government now wants to loot people’s homes through lotteries. Instead of creating jobs, they are trapping students, youth, shopkeepers, and salaried individuals into gambling their hard-earned money.”

He recalled that due to its harmful social impact, lotteries were previously banned by BJP governments in 1999 and even by former Congress CM Virbhadra Singh later. He urged the government to withdraw this anti-people decision and focus on safeguarding the savings of employees, pensions of retirees, and earnings of labourers.

Thakur alleged that under Congress’ economic mismanagement, Himachal has sunk into over ₹1 lakh crore debt, and the government is now resorting to unethical ways to fill its coffers at the public’s expense.
