Van Mahotsav Celebrated at GSSS Arki to Promote Environmental Awareness

The Himachal Pradesh Council for Science, Technology & Environment (HIMCOSTE), Shimla, under its EIACP PC Hub, organized Van Mahotsav Week at Government Senior Secondary School, Arki, Solan.
The event featured tree plantation under the campaign “A Tree in Mother’s Name,” along with art and debate competitions. Students showcased their creativity on themes like “Save Trees, Save Life” and “Green Environment.” An awareness rally by students and teachers was also conducted to sensitize the public about the importance of tree plantation and environmental protection.
Shri Kishori Bhardwaj, Range Officer, Forest Department, Arki, Solan, was the Chief Guest. Principal Shri Raj Kumar Gautam welcomed all and emphasized the importance of forests for sustaining life and biodiversity.
Mrs. Priyanka Sharma, Scientific Officer and Coordinator, EIACP PC Hub, HIMCOSTE, explained the significance of Van Mahotsav and the “A Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative. She also sensitized students about Mission LiFE and encouraged adopting eco-friendly lifestyles.
Winners of the art and speech competitions were felicitated by the chief guest. Students also took a pledge to protect the environment as part of the Mission LiFE campaign.
