Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Visits Dodra Kwar to Spread Anti-Drug Awareness

Shimla, June 17, 2025 — In a significant outreach, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla visited the remote Dodra Kwar region to raise awareness against drug abuse. Traveling by road and interacting with locals along the way, the Governor received a warm welcome, marking the first time a state governor has visited the area with such simplicity.

During his visit, cultural events were held in his honour, and he emphasized the need to market locally grown coarse grains. Despite heavy rainfall, he met villagers at the Jal Shakti guest house in Kwar and warned against the spread of synthetic drugs, which are replacing traditional intoxicants.

Highlighting Himachal as a land of gods and warriors, he said that drug dealers are threatening its identity. The Governor praised local MLA Mohan Lal Brakta’s commitment to support anti-drug campaigns across the constituency and encouraged women to lead the charge against this menace.

Governor Shukla also flagged off a student rally against drug abuse and expressed satisfaction at the growing involvement of youth and women in the campaign.
