Turmeric Procurement Begins in Chuwadi at Rs. 90/kg for Natural Farming Produce

Chamba, May 22 – Procurement of turmeric grown through natural farming methods has commenced in Chuwadi, Chamba district. On the first day, 12 quintals were purchased from five farmers at a government-fixed minimum support price of Rs. 90 per kg. This initiative is led by the ATMA project, as informed by Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Kalia, Project Director, ATMA Chamba.
The procurement drive will continue from May 22 to 25 at the Subject Matter Specialist Agriculture Office in Chuwadi. Only certified farmers practicing natural farming for over a year are eligible to sell their produce.
Half of the purchased turmeric will be processed by FPC Company Bhawarna under the JICA project, while the rest will be used in demo plants across the district. For further information, farmers may contact the BTM or ATM officers.
