Dodra Kwar Children to Participate in Table Tennis Competition for the First Time During Shimla Summer Festival

For the first time, children from the remote tribal region of Dodra Kwar in district Shimla will participate in the upcoming Table Tennis competition being held during the International Summer Festival. The tournament will take place at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex from June 2 to June 4, 2025.
A total of 55 schools—35 government and 20 private—will participate in the event, with each school sending 10 players (50% boys and 50% girls). The Deputy Commissioner, Anupam Kashyap, chaired a meeting to review preparations and confirmed that children from Dodra Kwar will also be shown the cultural evening of the summer festival.
Additionally, winners and runners-up will receive trophies, certificates, and financial rewards. All players will be given T-shirts, and their accommodation will be arranged by the district administration. The Deputy Director of Higher Education has been directed to make necessary arrangements.
Highlighting inclusivity, the DC also stated that all district officials will have dinner with the participants, ensuring interaction and encouragement. A focus will also be placed on drug awareness and promoting sports among children.
