Himachal Pradesh Congress Protests Against BJP-Led Central Government
1 min readShimla, December 18: Under the leadership of Pradesh Congress President and former MP Pratibha Singh, Congress leaders, district and block officials, and hundreds of party workers marched to Raj Bhavan, raising slogans against the BJP-led central government.
Addressing the gathering, Pratibha Singh accused the Modi government of shielding industrialist Gautam Adani, who is allegedly involved in corruption and fraud. She cited allegations made in a U.S. court and emphasized the damage to India’s reputation and investor confidence. She criticized the government’s inaction despite repeated demands by Rahul Gandhi in Parliament to investigate Adani’s financial misconduct.
Pratibha Singh also condemned the government’s silence on the escalating violence in Manipur, highlighting daily casualties and a failing state government. She expressed dismay over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lack of attention and failure to visit the conflict-hit state.
Chetan Chauhan, AICC Secretary and Co-incharge for Himachal affairs, accused the central government of authoritarianism, misuse of investigative agencies, and promoting communalism.
Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan criticized the Modi government for prioritizing corporate allies over farmers, alleging the suppression of democratic rights.
The protest witnessed participation from senior Congress leaders, municipal councillors, and members of various affiliated organizations like Seva Dal, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, and NSUI.
