Stray Dog Attack Claims Life of 3-Year-Old in Lahaul-Spiti
1 min readLahaul-Spiti: In a tragic incident, a 3-year-old child lost his life in Tandi Panchayat, Lahaul-Spiti district, due to a brutal stray dog attack. The child, belonging to a Nepali couple, was playing in the courtyard of their home in Sagnam village when a pack of stray dogs attacked him. Despite his mother’s desperate efforts to save him, the child sustained severe injuries.
Local residents rushed the child to Keylong hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. This incident has left the local community in fear of stray dog attacks.
Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana called the incident heartbreaking and assured swift assistance to the family. She announced that a compensation of ₹4 lakh would be provided through disaster management funds. Additionally, local Panchayat representatives and villagers have extended all possible help to the grieving family.
To prevent such incidents in the future, the MLA has instructed the animal husbandry department, in collaboration with the Panchayat, to organize sterilization camps and implement measures to control the stray dog population.
