Jairam Thakur Criticizes Himachal Government’s Priorities
1 min readMandi, November 08, 2024: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur, criticized the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu-led government for neglecting development, law, and order issues while focusing on minor matters. Speaking to reporters in Mandi, Thakur said that lawlessness and corruption are rampant in Himachal Pradesh, but the government is more concerned with trivial issues, damaging the state’s image. He pointed to the recent focus of intelligence services on an insignificant investigation rather than addressing significant concerns such as the state’s rising mafia presence and collapsing law and order.
Thakur further alleged that the current government frequently makes hasty and embarrassing decisions, resulting in national-level criticism and setbacks for the state’s image. He expressed concern over incidents like the mysterious extended leave of a district’s Superintendent of Police following actions that reportedly displeased some Congress leaders. Thakur urged the Chief Minister to prioritize public welfare and address corruption and lawlessness decisively.
