Medical Device Park in Solan to Unlock New Avenues of Growth
1 min readThe Himachal Pradesh government is constructing a Medical Device Park in the villages of Gheed and Tailiwala, Gram Panchayat Manjholi, Nalagarh subdivision, Solan. With an investment of approximately Rs. 349.83 crore, this park is expected to strengthen the state’s economy and provide significant employment opportunities for local youth. Spanning nearly 1623 bighas, the park has completed its first phase, while the second is nearing completion. The facility will produce around 150 medical devices, including those for cancer care, radiotherapy, radiology, imaging, implants, stents, and orthopedic products.
To support this, Rs. 83.39 crore has been allocated for land leveling, Rs. 31.35 crore for road construction, Rs. 12.46 crore for drainage, Rs. 25.05 crore for electrical distribution, and Rs. 7.79 crore for water supply. The park also includes advanced labs for 3D design, rapid prototyping, tooling, IoMT (Internet of Medical Things), and a centralized warehouse, enhancing streamlined operations and reducing manufacturing costs.
The government’s vision for a “One-Stop Destination” aims to boost India’s medical device manufacturing ecosystem, offering centralized testing and legal compliance facilities. Approximately 120 industrial plants are expected to be established, creating around 10,000 jobs. The Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) area, known as the largest industrial hub in Himachal and a prominent pharma hub of Asia, will gain an additional reputation in the medical devices sector, with Solan set to lead in medical technology alongside pharmaceuticals.
