Foundation day of 15 states and union territories celebrated at Raj Bhavan

The foundation day of as many as 15 States including Union Territories “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”, was celebrated today at Raj Bhavan, Shimla to realize the vision of the Prime Minister, stated Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who was present as a Chief Guest. Citizens of these states living in Himachal Pradesh registered their presence in the programme.

The primary goal of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ was to encourage interaction and cultural exchange among states. Through partnerships states get an opportunity to share their culture, customs and traditions with each other, said Sh. Shukla and added that this helps the citizens, especially the youth, to broaden their perspectives, better understanding thus strengthening National bonding.

The Governor said that the objective of celebrating these days was to strengthen the spirit of fraternity, integrity and love for the Nation and memorialize the efforts of the people who strived hard for gaining Statehood.

He said that Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat is not just a programme it was a vision of Prime Minster Narendra Modi for a united, prosperous and harmonious India. “It teaches us that when we stand together we can achieve our dreams. As we move forward, let us embrace the spirit of this initiative, understanding that in the end our shared identity as Indians was what matters most”, said he.

“We may belong to any State, from any community, caste or creed, but we are Indians first and it was essential to sensitize all the sections of the society and spread the message of unanimity and love “, he said.

The Governor said that such get-together programmes fulfil the concept of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

Lady Governor Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion.

The Governor and Lady Governor also honoured the citizens of 15 states.

People from the States Andhra Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh participated in the programme. They also interacted with the Governor and shared their experience in Himachal and also briefed about the culture and custom of their states.

While sharing experience former Director General of Police S.R.Mardi who also hails from Karnataka said that Unity in diversity is the identity of India and today even the people from Kerala were serving the country in Siachen also.
