Tragic Bus Accident in Almora, Uttarakhand Claims 20 Lives
1 min readAlmora, November 4: A tragic road accident in Almora district of Uttarakhand has resulted in the death of 20 people, with several others injured. The incident occurred when a passenger bus, en route from Kinath to Ramnagar, lost control and fell into a deep gorge near Marchula. Upon receiving the news, police and rescue teams rushed to the scene to begin relief operations.
According to the DCR Almora, the bus was carrying approximately 45 to 50 passengers, of which around 40 have been rescued so far. Tragically, 20 passengers have lost their lives, while 20 others are receiving treatment at hospitals in Ramnagar and Dewal. Several individuals are still reported missing.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed profound sorrow over the incident. He has instructed the suspension of the ARTO enforcement from the respective areas of Pauri and Almora. Additionally, he announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹1 lakh for the injured. The Chief Minister has also directed a magistrate inquiry into the matter by the Kumaon Commissioner. SDRF and NDRF teams have been deployed for swift rescue operations at the site.
