2 min readDehra: Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur has been aggressively campaigning in Dehra, urging voters to support the Congress party. She highlighted that all development in the Dehra Assembly constituency has been due to Congress governments. Thakur stated that Dehra has lagged behind in terms of development in recent years, but now residents have the chance to correct this mistake. She assured that if elected, there will be no shortage of development in the area.
She emphasized her commitment to addressing every problem faced by the residents, saying, “I am the daughter of Dehra, and a daughter is never sent empty-handed from her parents’ home.” Thakur pledged to remain in the constituency after the election to serve the people and continue development work.
Thakur announced new plans for Dehra that aim to create employment opportunities for youth close to home. She mentioned that the state government is aware of the issues faced by those displaced by the Pong Dam and that the Chief Minister has promised to resolve these issues, even if it requires changing the law. This, she said, reflects the government’s commitment.
She criticized former MLA Hoshiar Singh for insulting the people of Dehra and bringing shame to the region. Thakur urged the voters of Dehra to seize the opportunity given by God to erase this stigma by supporting the Congress candidate in the by-election and ensuring a resounding victory.
Thakur also highlighted the numerous initiatives brought by the current Congress government for the upliftment of women. She mentioned that the government is providing employment opportunities through women’s groups and government schemes. The Congress government is offering financial assistance of three lakh rupees to widows for building houses and covering the higher education expenses of their children up to 27 years. Under the Mukhyamantri Sukhashray Yojana, the state government is taking care of orphaned children, adopting them as “Children of the State.”
